What goes on a quote

What should a quote include?

Your business name and contact details, the client’s name, a unique quote number, the date it was issued and the date it is valid until, a line for each product or service with its quantity and price, the subtotal, any discount and tax, the total, and your payment terms. Once the client accepts, the same details become the invoice.

FAQ

Quotes: questions

Is the quote generator free?

Yes. Make as many quotes as you like, in any of the four templates, with no account, to try it out: those PDFs carry a diagonal “SAMPLE” mark. A free LeadQuasar account removes the mark and adds saving, automatic QUO- numbering, sent, accepted and declined tracking, and turning a quote into an invoice in one click.

What is the difference between a quote and an invoice?

A quote (or estimate) comes before the work: it tells the client what the job will cost and how long the price stands, so they can say yes. An invoice comes after: it asks for payment for what was agreed. Use the free invoice generator when it is time to bill.

Is a quote the same as an estimate?

They are often used for the same document. An estimate usually signals an approximate price that may change, while a quote is a fixed price for the work described. Whichever word you use, list each item, its quantity and price, and the date the offer is valid until.

Is my information uploaded?

No. Everything you type stays in your browser, which remembers your last draft on this device. Nothing is sent to LeadQuasar until you choose to save quotes in an account.

How are the totals worked out?

Each line is quantity times unit price. The discount comes off the subtotal first, then tax is added on what is left, and the total is the result. The sums are done in whole cents, so they never drift by a penny.

How do I get the PDF?

Press Download PDF. Your browser's print window opens with the quote: choose Save as PDF as the printer. With an account, the PDF downloads directly.
