United Therapeutics Corporation is a biotechnology company and public benefit corporation focused on therapies for patients with chronic and rare diseases and on expanding the availability of transplantable organs. It was founded in 1996 to find a cure for the founder's daughter's life-threatening condition, now known as pulmonary arterial hypertension, and went public on Nasdaq in 1997. The company, which became a public benefit corporation in 2021, has co-headquarters in Silver Spring, Maryland, and Research Triangle Park, North Carolina.
