Martial Arts Instructor Contacts: How to Reach Dojo Owners

5 min read

LeadQuasar's Martial Art category has 1,532 contacts across 45 states. 1,468 of them (96%) have a phone number, but only 265 (17%) have an email address, so you will mostly be calling. 74% of records carry a person's name, which in a small studio is usually the head instructor who also owns the place.

This list and the martial arts schools list

LeadQuasar has two martial arts categories. Martial arts schools is its own list, covered separately. This one, Martial Art, is a distinct set of person-level records: a named instructor or owner where available, a phone number, and often a website. If you are building a national martial arts campaign, pull both and remove the overlaps. If you want to talk to the instructor by name, this list is a good starting point.

Know the discipline before you dial

"Martial arts" is not one market. A traditional karate or taekwondo studio built around children's belt programs runs very differently from a Brazilian jiu-jitsu academy full of adults, a Muay Thai or MMA gym with a fight team, or a tai chi class aimed at older students. They buy differently too.

  • Kids' programs care about enrollment, retention through the belt ranks, parent communication and after-school pickup.
  • Adult grappling and striking gyms care about membership billing, mats and equipment, open-mat scheduling and insurance.
  • Competition gyms care about gear, event entry, travel and coaching staff.

62% of records include a website, and the site nearly always shows the discipline and the class timetable. Read it first. Opening a call to a jiu-jitsu academy with a pitch about belt-testing software tells the instructor you have not looked.

When instructors are reachable

The timetable decides when to call. Most studios teach after school and in the evening, with some early-morning and weekend classes. During those hours the owner is on the mat and the phone goes to voicemail.

The best window is the late morning and early afternoon on weekdays, when the studio may be quiet and the owner is doing admin. If you leave a voicemail, give one reason to call back and a number, and say it slowly. Instructors often return calls between classes, so expect a callback in the early evening.

Where martial art contacts are concentrated

State Contacts With phone With email
California 320 298 35
Massachusetts 166 165 33
Texas 86 84 19
Colorado 85 82 14
New York 84 77 13
Florida 68 67 8

Illinois has 65, Arizona 60, Michigan 45, Washington 43, Oregon 41 and Virginia 39.

Massachusetts is the surprise. At 166 contacts it is second only to California, ahead of far larger states. If you sell regionally in New England, it is the densest part of this list. Beyond the top states the coverage is thin: 45 states are represented, but every state outside the top twelve has fewer than 39 records. Treat this as a focused list, not a national directory.

What to sell, and how to say it

Studio owners are teachers first. Many started a school because they love the art, and many find the business side a chore. That is your opening. Vendors who do well with this audience usually sell one of:

  • member management and billing software
  • lead follow-up and trial-class booking
  • uniforms, belts, mats and protective gear
  • local marketing and review management
  • insurance for students and premises

Keep the pitch practical. "Parents who book a trial class online and never hear back" is a problem an instructor recognises. Speak in terms of students kept and trial classes converted, not features.

A simple plan

  1. Browse martial art leads and filter by state. Search is free.
  2. Check the tier before you unlock. The list has 264 CONNECTED, 1,207 STANDARD and 61 LEAN records, and every one shows a quality score up front.
  3. Read the website to note the discipline and class times.
  4. Call in the late morning, by name where you have one.
  5. Follow up by email where an address exists or the instructor gives you one. Our cold email guide covers a short follow-up. Follow CAN-SPAM and any state calling rules that apply.

A free account unlocks 50 contacts a day with no card, which covers most states on this list in a day or two. If you want the whole list and the martial arts schools list together in a CRM, go unlimited for $3.99/month and export to CSV. For a gym-and-studio campaign beyond martial arts, gyms is the natural next category.
