Selling to Dentists: How to Find Practice Owners (2026)

6 min read

LeadQuasar has 10,736 dentist contacts across 46 states. 5,203 of them (48%) include an email address and 7,846 (73%) a phone number, and 72% name a specific person. The work is less about finding dentists than about reaching the one in each practice who owns it and signs the purchase order.

Owner, associate or clinician: read the title first

A dental practice looks like one business from the outside, but inside it there are two kinds of dentist. The owner buys the equipment, the software, the marketing and the lease. The associate treats patients and has no budget. Pitch an associate on a new imaging system and the best outcome is a polite "you'd need to talk to the doctor who owns the practice."

The job titles in the data show both groups:

Title Contacts
Dentist 1,304
Owner 433
General Dentist 372
Dentist And Owner 213
Owner And Dentist 161
Pediatric Dentist 83
Associate Dentist 82
President 46
Owner Dentist 45
General Dentist And Owner 33

Anything containing "Owner" or "President" is a buyer. "Associate Dentist" usually is not. The plain "Dentist" and "General Dentist" titles are the ambiguous middle, and they are the biggest group. For those, the practice website settles it: 56% of records include one, and the "Meet the doctor" or "About us" page usually names the founder. If the person on your record is the name on the door, treat them as the owner.

Pediatric dentists (83) are a useful segment on their own. They buy different equipment and run different marketing from a general practice, so a pitch written for them converts better than a generic dental one.

The front desk decides what reaches the dentist

Most dental offices route every call through the front desk, and the person there is protecting a chair schedule. A cold call that asks for "the doctor" in the middle of a patient day goes nowhere.

What works better:

  • Ask for the office manager when you sell something operational: supplies, scheduling or billing software, phone systems, cleaning, staffing. In many practices the office manager evaluates these and brings a short list to the owner.
  • Ask when the doctor is between patients for anything clinical or expensive, and offer to call back then. Front desks respect a caller who respects the schedule.
  • Email the dentist directly when you have an address, and keep it to a few lines. Dentists tend to read email between patients or after hours, so write something they can answer from a phone.

What practices buy, and who signs

What you sell Who evaluates Who signs
Consumables and supplies Office manager Office manager or owner
Imaging, chairs, lasers Owner dentist Owner dentist
Practice management software Office manager Owner dentist
Patient marketing and websites Owner dentist Owner dentist
Staffing and hygienist placement Office manager Owner dentist
Financing and equipment leasing Owner dentist Owner dentist

The pattern is simple. The owner signs anything with a real price, and the office manager is the fastest route to the owner for anything that touches the daily schedule.

Where the dentist data is

State Contacts With email With phone
California 2,069 572 1,805
Texas 1,674 604 1,330
Florida 988 642 622
Ohio 912 627 564
North Carolina 665 410 416
Illinois 577 392 344

Further down, New York has 509, Pennsylvania 493 and Georgia 368, and nearly every Georgia record (362) carries an email.

Notice the channel split. California is the biggest state but mostly phone: 572 emails against 1,805 phone numbers. Florida and Ohio run the other way, with more emails than phones. Plan a calling campaign for California and an email campaign for Florida and Ohio rather than one approach for all three.

By city, Dallas leads with 460 contacts, then San Francisco (375), Chicago (340), New York (307) and San Diego (286). Austin (227) and Houston (181) add to a strong Texas picture, and California also has San Jose (246) and Los Angeles (200).

Build the list in this order

  1. Define the practice you want. General or pediatric, solo owner or larger group, which metros. Our guide to creating an ideal customer profile walks through it.
  2. Browse dentist leads by state and city. Search and filters are free.
  3. Check the quality tier before unlocking. Every record shows a quality score and tier. The dentist data has 1,294 VERIFIED and 351 PREMIUM records, which are the ones to unlock first.
  4. Sort the unlocked records by title. Put owners at the top, mark associates as low priority, and check the website for the ambiguous "Dentist" titles.
  5. Check the email before you send. A bounce hurts your sender reputation. See how to verify an email address.

Frequently asked questions

How many dentist email addresses does LeadQuasar have?

5,203 of the 10,736 dentist contacts have an email address, which is 48%. Florida (642), Ohio (627) and Texas (604) have the most.

How do I find only dental practice owners?

Search by state, city and quality tier, then work through the job titles on the records you unlock. Titles such as Owner (433), Dentist And Owner (213) and Owner And Dentist (161) are owners. For plain "Dentist" titles, check the practice website to see whose name is on the door.

Which states have the most dentist contacts?

California (2,069), Texas (1,674) and Florida (988), followed by Ohio (912). The data covers 46 states in total, so check the state you need before you plan a campaign.

Is it better to call or email a dental office?

Phone coverage is higher, at 73% against 48% for email, and the front desk answers during patient hours. Email reaches the dentist directly when you have an address. Many sellers do both: they email the owner and call to ask the office manager for a short slot.
